MECCHA CHAMELEON — Master the Paint Tool
Your paintbrush is your most powerful tool. This guide covers everything from basic color matching to advanced texture techniques that make you truly invisible.
Color Matching
Color Matching
The painting tool lets you sample colors from the environment. Use it wisely. Pro Hiders use 3-4 colors per disguise —a base color, a shadow tone, and highlight accents to match the lighting of their chosen spot.
Sample the wall color as your base, then add darker shades at your character's bottom edge
Match the floor color near your feet to create a seamless ground connection
Add small contrasting splotches if the environment has texture or patterns
Texture Mimicry
Texture Mimicry
Beyond flat colors, some environments have visible textures —brick patterns, wood grain, tile grout. Use the brush size options to recreate these patterns on your character.
Use small brush strokes to mimic wood grain on a cabinet
Dot patterns to match speckled or textured walls
Horizontal stripes to blend into venetian blind shadows
Pose Selection
Pose Selection
Your character's pose is as important as the paint job. Each environment has objects you can mimic. The game offers multiple pose options —experiment with each.
Standing straight: Best for blending into door frames or tall furniture
Crouching: Ideal for hiding behind low walls, barrels, or plants
Leaning: Perfect for mimicking slanted objects like billboards or easels
Spread pose: Useful when hiding among scattered objects

Advanced Techniques
Next-Level Camouflage
Once you've mastered the basics, these advanced techniques will make you one of the hardest Hiders to catch.
The Chameleon Crawl
AdvancedPaint yourself to match the floor, then slowly crawl across open areas. If a Seeker enters, freeze. Your floor-matching colors make you look like part of the ground pattern.
Partner Disguise
AdvancedCoordinate with another Hider. One of you poses as an object, the other as its shadow or a nearby companion piece. Two matching disguised Hiders are harder to spot than one.
The Decoy
ExpertPaint one area of yourself brightly and position that part behind a gap, making it look like a separate object. The rest of you blends into the background. Seekers see the "object" and move on.
Quick-Change Artist
ExpertMaster the painting tool so you can re-camouflage quickly mid-round. If a Seeker approaches your area, being able to swap to a new disguise on the fly can save you.
Pro tip: The best disguise is the one you commit to. If you're dressed as a potted plant, be the potted plant. Don't second-guess yourself mid-round. Confidence sells the illusion.
